Camp Bio:

I am extremely excited to be joining the Camp Ballibay team this summer! The campers here are all so willing and eager to learn and try new things, I just can't wait to share my love and passion for photography and the arts with them. While teaching, I love nothing more than to see students excited to discover new things and experiment with the new ideas and skills they are learning. I hope to inspire and foster a love of the arts, and I know we will all grow as individuals and artists from what we learn during our time at Camp Ballibay. I can't wait for all of the camp adventures to begin, and I look forward to all of the new and wonderful experiences this summer has to offer!

Professional/School Bio:

Originally from Kent, Ohio, I moved to Savannah, Georgia 7 years ago to attend the Savannah College of Art and Design. After graduating with a BFA in Photography in 2007, I decided to continue my education at SCAD, graduating in 2009 with an MFA in Photography. During my time at the Savannah College of Art and Design, I worked as a Resident Assistant, an assistant manager at an independent art supply store, co-founded the Kobo Gallery artists' cooperative, and was a teaching assistant for traditional black and white and platinum/ palladium photography classes. This past summer, I hopped in the car with my little brother and drove 2421.77 miles from Savannah to Los Angeles, where I now live. I am currently a book seller and work as an photography mentor for Venice Arts: In Neighborhoods, a non-profit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of students from low income families in Venice, California.

I have participated in many group and solo exhibitions and met and worked with fantastic and talented artists along the way. My interests in art go far beyond photography, including printmaking, art history, sequential art, vocal and choral performance, and music. I always wished I could draw (I definitely can't), but I still do even if it's not a skill I technically possess. If it's fun, why not, right? I believe that learning should instill an uncontainable passion; one that drives you to work to your highest potential and helps you grow and discover yourself as an individual and artist.

About the Staff of the Ballibay Camps

A key to the success of any camping season is staff. We spend a great deal of time screening and selecting our staff before every summer, and we have been fortunate to have many talented counselors and teachers remain with us season after season. Our staff members are predominantly educators and university students from the United States, although we also have a strong international component to our staff.

Our staff members come to us with outstanding credentials: professional experience, a background in teaching, and/or exceptional skills in their specialties. Most of all, we seek good, caring people who are interested in the well-being and growth of children. We look for people who, knowing something of the competitive nature of the adult world, are excited to put those concerns aside for a summer and focus on "the journey" in a non-competitive, fun, friendly environment.
