Years at Camp: 3rd summer in 2011

Department: Rock Music

Camp Bio:

This is my 3rd summer at Ballibay. Besides being a Cabin Counselor, I teach drums and work with the bands as Rock/Music instructor. The bands I was rehearsing in the past years, were playing songs by Deep Purple, ZZ Top, Sublime, Jet, The Beatles or The Rolling Stones on Band night.

Every once in a while I also run workshops, e.g. about Body Percussion. Actually I'm open to almost every kind of music. Let's see, what it's gonna be this year!

Professional/School Bio:

I started to play drums with 7 years and took lessons for 13 years. My first band experience I gained as a 10 year old in a brass band. To develop my skills, I played in the following years with a lot of bands different kinds of music, such as Pop, Rock, Metal, Church music, Gospel, HipHop and Acoustic.

By the end of high school and during civil service I teached drums for 4 years as a private tutor. Since then I'm playing in different projects.

Currently I'm studying Industrial Engineering & Logistics in the 4th semester at the OvGU (University) in Magdeburg / Germany. Besides my passion for drumming, I love playing tennis and snowboarding.

About the Staff of the Ballibay Camps

A key to the success of any camping season is staff. We spend a great deal of time screening and selecting our staff before every summer, and we have been fortunate to have many talented counselors and teachers remain with us season after season. Our staff members are predominantly educators and university students from the United States, although we also have a strong international component to our staff.

Our staff members come to us with outstanding credentials: professional experience, a background in teaching, and/or exceptional skills in their specialties. Most of all, we seek good, caring people who are interested in the well-being and growth of children. We look for people who, knowing something of the competitive nature of the adult world, are excited to put those concerns aside for a summer and focus on "the journey" in a non-competitive, fun, friendly environment.
