Natalie Palmer

Years at Camp: 1st year in 2010

Department: Technical Theater, Media

Camp Bio:

My name is Natalie, I am from Cambridge in the UK and I am 20 years old.

This is my first time going to America, and first time working on a camp. In the past I have been involved with kids weekends away, holiday clubs (daytime only) and I used to help run a Junior choir which I was part of for about 11 years from the age of 7.

I am bringing my media skills to help teach the children how to work in a studio environment, understanding the equipment and challenging the kids to take part in the creative process.

I look forward to meeting everyone and getting involved!

Professional/School Bio:

For the past couple of years I have been studying at Leicester De Montfort University. My course is called Media Production which means we do electronics alongside using the equipment making it part of the sciences.

I work with cameras and studio equipment and my Uni takes us for experience to be trained at the BBC training centre. I also study digital photography, briefly 3ds Max (computer generated Images) and the production of video including the editing and planning processes.

For those interested you can view my presenting skills on a spoof shopping channel which my class mates wrote together (the jokes are about English music mainly).

About the Staff of the Ballibay Camps

A key to the success of any camping season is staff. We spend a great deal of time screening and selecting our staff before every summer, and we have been fortunate to have many talented counselors and teachers remain with us season after season. Our staff members are predominantly educators and university students from the United States, although we also have a strong international component to our staff.

Our staff members come to us with outstanding credentials: professional experience, a background in teaching, and/or exceptional skills in their specialties. Most of all, we seek good, caring people who are interested in the well-being and growth of children. We look for people who, knowing something of the competitive nature of the adult world, are excited to put those concerns aside for a summer and focus on "the journey" in a non-competitive, fun, friendly environment.
