Years at Camp: 1st year in 2010
Department: Kitchen, Garden
Camp Bio:
This is Diana's first summer at camp! She is looking forward to assisting in the kitchen and garden, cooking delicious meals, meeting lots of great people, and being a helpful, loving counselor.
Professional/School Bio:
Diana is an avid food-lover, amateur cook, and a strong supporter of healthy, sustainable food. Her love for food as well as for people inspired her undergraduate studies at New York University in Manhattan where she is currently a senior concentrating in cultural anthropology and food studies. Her favorite activity in New York City is wandering through the Union Square Greenmarket, talking with the farmers, and buying from the impressive selection of fruits, vegetables, and other prepared goodies. She just returned from an incredible semester abroad in Paris and is now determined, more than ever, to grow and prepare perfect, farm-fresh produce like that which she had every day in France. She also hopes to one day learn how to bake what she believes to be the "perfect" baguette.
Diana has always enjoyed cooking and baking for herself and, of course, for her friends and family. When she's not in the kitchen, she enjoys being outside, reading, going for swims, and listening to music. She hopes to contribute her passion for not only food but also for the arts at Ballibay. At an early age, she learned to play the piano, which she practiced until entering University. She was also a competitive swimmer for most of her life, a member of concert band and orchestra on the flute and later the oboe. She has always been interested in visual arts and continues to take classes in sculpture, drawing, and painting whenever she can.
