Years at Camp: 2nd summer in 2011

Department: Music

Camp Bio:

This is my second summer at Camp Ballibay and I am very excited to be returning as the instrumental music teacher to work with all of the wonderful campers and staff! This, as always, will be an incredibly rewarding experience for both my personal and educational endeavors!

In my previous summer at Camp Ballibay, I had the opportunity to teach many of the campers a new instrument (or two) as well as to help some of the more advanced players expand upon their prior musical knowledge and experience. In addition to the campers, I was also able to work with some of the most talented and unique group of musicians to ever assemble in one place!

Professional/School Bio:

I am a 2010 graduate of Mansfield University of Pennsylvania where I received my degree in music education with an emphasis on instrumental music. While in school, I was a member of the featured Clarinet Consort which contained the top five players of my studio and specialized in classical chamber music with a specific interest in orchestral transcriptions. I was also fortunate enough to be the clarinetist in the university's woodwind quintet which performed at several venues throughout both New York and Pennsylvania.

A few of my more rewarding professional performance opportunities include the quintet's invitation to perform at the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education's (PASSHE for short) anniversary reception. The woodwind quintet also secured the award of first place in the Music Teacher's National Association's (MTNA) annual statewide competition in chamber music. Our quintet received second place in the regional competition which encompasses Maine through South Carolina.

I have received scholarships and merit awards in areas such as music, leadership and academics and am currently focusing on my pursuit of graduate school and a teaching career.

I am very excited to be working with both the campers and staff again for the 2011 summer!

About the Staff of the Ballibay Camps

A key to the success of any camping season is staff. We spend a great deal of time screening and selecting our staff before every summer, and we have been fortunate to have many talented counselors and teachers remain with us season after season. Our staff members are predominantly educators and university students from the United States, although we also have a strong international component to our staff.

Our staff members come to us with outstanding credentials: professional experience, a background in teaching, and/or exceptional skills in their specialties. Most of all, we seek good, caring people who are interested in the well-being and growth of children. We look for people who, knowing something of the competitive nature of the adult world, are excited to put those concerns aside for a summer and focus on "the journey" in a non-competitive, fun, friendly environment.
