Professional/School Bio:

Angela began learning how to cook at the apron strings of her grandmothers and mother. It was here her passion for cooking was first ignited and she learned how to make wonderful soups, stocks and sauces from traditions of Italy and Eastern Europe cuisine. Her first position was as a personal chef for an Ayurvedic vegetarian where she began to study more deeply the foods of India. She then worked at Whole Foods Market where she cooked a variety of cuisines and contributed recipes to the prepared foods department. She also worked at FarmiCia in Philadelphia under Kevin Klause, former head chef of the White Dog Cafe and a leader in the movement of farm to table cooking. Angela then left city life for the beautiful Berkshires of western Massachusetts where she worked at the renowned Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health where she had access to the most amazing ingredients she ever had the pleasure to work with, sourced from the bounty of the area and the best organic purveyors. Angela then worked as the vegetarian specialist and Sous Chef at Camp Kinderland in Tolland, MA and as a personal Chef for a sorority at UMass Amherst where she designed and prepared a healthy and satisfying daily menu for 50 residents. Angela has traveled to 30 countries and learned about the cuisines and cultures of Italy, France, New Zealand, Latin America and Southeast Asia. She is looking forward to a great summer at Ballibay.

About the Staff of the Ballibay Camps

A key to the success of any camping season is staff. We spend a great deal of time screening and selecting our staff before every summer, and we have been fortunate to have many talented counselors and teachers remain with us season after season. Our staff members are predominantly educators and university students from the United States, although we also have a strong international component to our staff.

Our staff members come to us with outstanding credentials: professional experience, a background in teaching, and/or exceptional skills in their specialties. Most of all, we seek good, caring people who are interested in the well-being and growth of children. We look for people who, knowing something of the competitive nature of the adult world, are excited to put those concerns aside for a summer and focus on "the journey" in a non-competitive, fun, friendly environment.
